Thanks, Ron. I guess that cataract surgery clouded my vision; Menard Co. is
right next to Sangamon!
Plus I've been looking in Iowa for my Thompsons, but no luck yet. Indiana
is still my best bet.
Linda

I cannot find Menard County, Illinois, in my map guide to censuses.
When
and where was it? Is it Randolph County? Was that part of Iowa territory
at
one time? There seem to be connections between the SW part of Indiana and
Kaskaskia and Menard Illinois areas.
Menard County was formed in 1839 from Sangamon County. It is not near
Randolph County and was never a part of it. None of Illinois was ever part
of Iowa Territory.
