Joyce,
I have received records from Posey and Gibson. There are apparently 2
kinds, some with an application/license, with a certificate then issued
at date of marriage. My 1844 had an application so, the parents signed
it. The one from 1850 had only the certificate so, no parents names
were included. Both of these came from Gibson Co.
Below are the addresses I keep for reference and you can see that their
own words don't quite hold up all the time! I guess it's just a hit
and miss situation. It just so happened they DID have an application
for my 1844 marriage. Both these ladies are very helpful and obviously
knowledgeable about the genealogy. As a matter of fact, I originally
wrote only for the 1844 record and they found the other 1850 one for
me, and sent it along, because she felt it might belong to a sister!
Sure enough she was right! The cost for all was maybe $3 which I
wasn't required to send until I had the records. Can't beat that kind
of help! Be sure to send a self-addressed stamped envelope and as much
information as possible on the relative. Send your inquiry without any
payment. They will let you know later what that will be.
Good luck!
