My gr gr gr grandmother was the daughter of Henry Martin and Mary Sullivan Kirkman. Her
name was Mariah and was married to James L. McCleary who also came from one of the
earliest settled families in Gibson County coming from Lancaster Co. Pa. Henry Martins
parents were William Harris Martin and Elizabeth Fentress. Not sure of their origins.

Josiah Martin to David Martin who
came from South Carolina to Gibson County. It does not appear that there are
any connections with your Martin family.

Subject: [INGIBSON] William T. Martin b. 1822
Greetings! I am seeking assistance in regard to the
family of William T. Martin born in Princeton, Indiana
May 22, 1822. I, unfortunately, have no idea who his
parents or siblings are and am hoping someone has some
clues. Here is what I do know:
1. Father and mother were born in KY.
2. William moved early from Gibson County, and spent a
great amount of time traveling amongst the southern
Indiana counties. He eventually became a physician and
settled in Knox County in the town of Monroe City.
3. I believe he is living in 1850 with possibly his
mother. He is living with a woman by the name of Ann
Martin in Vanderburgh Co. She was born 1897, KY.
4. He may have some connection to Elihu H. Martin, son
of Henry Martin and Mary Kirkman, as he lives next
door to him in 1860.
I also think there may be some connection between him
and Thomas H. Martin, a very early settler of Gibson
County.
If anyone has any ideas or clues, I sure would
appreciate hearing them as I am at a brick wall!
Thanks in advance,
Wendy Morin
