Just a note - for those doing search through Ancestry they have it wrong and shows in 1880
census as a Gary H. McGregor, when if you darken and enhance the digitized picture you can
see it is really John H. McGregor - if you have microfilm itself, this family is 1880
census Gibson Co, IN Barton Tp Pg 213B family 46-46:
John H. McGregor 39 Farmer IN OH SC
Analiza McGregor 31 IN IN IN
Elmer McGregor 12 IN IN IN
Maggie McGregor 10 IN IN IN
Lora McGregor 6 IN IN IN
Joseph R. McGregor 3 IN IN IN
1870 John H. shows up as Hamilton and is with his parents, wife and 2 of his children as
well as a sister, Elisabeth. Again Gibson Co, IN Barton Tp in Oakland City Pg 184A
household 273-268.
I never did go past Gibson Co, IN since that is not my family and I only do research on
these name for my Gibson Co, IN webpages - so you would have to ask these other folks
which county in Missouri they are speaking about them moving to (don't recall this
being shown so far in these messages).
On another note I would like to remind everyone that when they see Ia on a census
(especially 1850 in Indiana) that it is an abbreviation for INDIANA back then - NOT Iowa.
Apparently the people of Ancestry don't know this since I am constantly seeing Iowa
when it should be Indiana!!!
Just glancing it appears that this family went from Scotland to SC then a couple years
later to VA then on to IN -- possibly stopping in OH since I see some McGregors born in OH
just haven't matched them to this SC/VA/IN family yet to see if same family or another
separate family line (like my Lynch family when hunting thought they were same family and
found several separate families with same lastname in same county).
My best,

The parents of George Hamilton McGregor were George McGregor and Margaret G.
Martin. They had 5 children who they broughy to Missouri with them as well as
her parents and her some of the Woods siblings.
Elmer Logan McGregor was born in 1866; Joseph Robert who was born in 1876,
Margaret who was born in 1869; Lora Anna who was born in 1873 and the youngest,
Zenas Ellsworth born in 1882. The four oldest married in Missouri and Zenas
married my grandmother. Elmer and J. R. married sisters and went to Coffey
Co., Ks. Lora Ann married and stayed in Missouri as well as Margaret ( Maggie).
She died before 1910 and I can't find out where she and her son are buried.
They evidently did not have stones.
Hope to find a descendent of George and Margaret someday. All seem to come
from John.
