Just wanted to pass some info that might be helpful to those hunting the elusive relatives
who have gone "underground" at the IOOF (Odd Fellows) cemetery in Princeton.
Rick Mattingly (812-254-2223) is one of the caretakers and was very helpful to me and my
grave-hopping friends this afternoon. He said was was more than happy to help us find
who we were looking for and gave his phone number to us in case we wanted to call sometime
before we came again. We also visited the library-- they are undergoing reorganization
now, but the librarians are very, very helpful there. It does pay to call ahead
though, especially if you are coming from out of town, just to double check their
schedule and tell them who and what you are needing.
The health dept gals were wonderful-- just kept the books coming at us as we
called them out. We didn't make it to the court house-- tried to get to much done
in too little time. Very, very nice folks!! The health dept gals recommended a
couple of nice places to eat-- we picked Dick Clark's (no bandstand music played)
since it was on the way to the IOOF Cem. And we ran into the owner-- a very nice lady
from our area. They have
great tenderloins.
It was a good trip-- and we shall return.
