Hello Donna,
I would imagine that The General John Gibson Chapter, DAR will re-print
Stormont's History again as soon as they have sold enough of the other
books that they have on hand, and when enough interest is shown to warrant
another re-print. Stormont's is over 1130 pages with the index, and quite
expensive to print.
L.O. Emmerson was born in 1846 and died in 1932. The book contains a group
of writings and stories, hand written by him over a 15 or 20 year
period. He reminisces about his childhood days, and covers a lot of
interesting history about all the communities in the county. It is my
favorite book. Virginia Folck's book "Tomahawks to Trenches" Has a good
outline of the early history of the territory and of early Gibson County,
but is mostly Princeton History through World War one.
My recommendation, if you can afford it, is try to obtain copies of all
five. You will find information that is repeated in some, but will have a
good variety of county history from all.
I think I ran the addresses earlier, but will repeat them in case someone
missed them and would like to check on purchasing these:

Hi Ernie,
Thanks for the scoop on the Historical Society books. Now, I'm wondering if
two of the books you mentioned:
<< Looking Back at Gibson County" - L.O. Emmerson $20.00
"From Tomahawks to Trenches" - Virginia H. Folck $13.00 >>
deal with the earliest pioneer period of Gibson County? (I feel like a
2-year-old --- so MANY questions....)
If you EVER hear of any Gibson County group even thinking of reprinting
Stormont's History, would you please let me (and the list) know?
You are an angel to help us all so very much!
Thanks,
Donna in Kansas
