Shirley,
I saw your post. I have a couple Willis B. Jones in my husband's family but
I don't believe they lived in Gibson County. The family info I have starts
in Marion Co. IL (some online info says he came from Knoxville, Tennessee.)
However, the daughter of my Willis Sr. married into the Potter family in
Marion Co. IL but the Potter family was in Gibson Co, IN until about 1850.
There seems to be a Willis B. in at least two generations, could there be a
connection and the families be related? Or, was there a famous Willis B.
that everyone was named after?
Our family info has nothing on Willis Sr. except that he died just before
his last daughter was born in Jan 1852 in Marion Co. IL.
Online info, says he was born 03 Mar 1820 in Knoxville, TN, married 19 Feb
1839 in Marion Co. to Eliza Ann Chance, daughter of James Wiley Chance and
Mary Margaret Nichols.

I am looking for a cemetery record for Willis B. Jones. I believe him to
be
the son of Asa Jones. In the 1850 census, the family was in the Johnson
Township of Gibson County,
Thanks,
Shirley
