Mr. HOUSER, traveling salesman for he National Grocery Co. of South Bend was
seriously hurt near the GIDEON MAHLER home Wednesday. His Ford turning over
pinning him underneath the car in such a position that the fender was across
his neck. When found by OSCAR MONASMITH he was unconscious. Medical aid was
called and he was taken to his home in South Bend that evening.
VERN STAHL and family concluded a visit with relatives here Wednesday and
returned to their home in Huntington.

Mrs. RUTH STROCK, of near Akron has field as suit for a divorce from WARDELL
W. STROCK, accusing him of cruel and inhuman treatment. They were married
August 12, 1916, and according to Mrs. STROCK, the husband soon after become
tired of farm life and moved to Rochester. She says that he is lazy and
refused to support her and their child, who was born while the husband was
visiting his relatives near Columbus, Ind. She wants a divorce and other
proper relief.

Minor Motor Mishaps Down Town Monday Eve. - page 2
Ninth St. Monday evening was the scene of two auto accidents. Mrs. GUY
BARR, driving the Dawson car east on Ninth St., was struck at the Main St.
corner by CLEM BOWEN, of Winamac, who was traveling south on Main St. The
Dawson car lows several spokes out of a rear wheel, while the Bowen machine
suffered more extensively in front.
CRATE ANDERSON struck a horse owned by MARTIN BLIGH and driven by GEORGE
BECK, on E. Ninth St. Monday evening. The ANDERSON jitney was not hurt but
the horse received a severe cut on a foreleg.

to remove from Ft. Myer, VA, their present home, to New York.

J. W. EMMONS has returned to his home in Tiosa after spending the past few
days in Rochester with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. EMMONS.
Mr. and Mrs. BLYTHE BUCHANAN and Mr. and Mrs. BERT WILBUR will motor down
from Mishawaka and spend Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. P.M. BUCHANAN.
Miss DOROTHY WOODCOX who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. THAD STEVENS,
returned today to her home in Waterviliet, Michigan.
ORVILLE HICKS, of South Bend, who spent the past few days with Rochester
friends, went today to MACY to visit his grandmother.
GUY BESTMAN, of the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, has returned to his
duties after a short visit with Miss MILDRED NEERMAN.
LYON TERRY, who spent the past week in Rochester with his parents, Mrs. and
Mrs. FRANK TERRY, returned to Ft. Worth, Texas.
IKE WILE and J. F. DYSERT were Friday guests of Representative BARNHART in
Washington according to a dispatch to the Indianapolis Star.
Mrs. DEAN L. BARNHART, daughter MARY LOUISE, and Miss MARIE THORPE motored
today to Goshen the first two to remain a week as a guest of her parents.
Mrs. FRANK KUMLER, Mrs. EARL MILLER and Miss FAYE BRADY went today to
Mishawak where they will spend the week end with Mr. and Mrs. JOSEPH BRADY.
Mrs. GEORGIA SHIVELY, of Chicago, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. WILLIAM BROWN for the past two weeks, went today to Lafayette for a
short visit with relatives.
Mrs. LOREN JOHNSON, Mrs. WILLIAM OVERMYER, and Mrs. RALPH BROUILETT went
today to Louisville, Kentucky where they will visit their husbands who are in
the drafted army now in training at Camp Taylor.

CALLED TO LIMA, Ohio by TRADEDY IN FAMILY, page 1
Mrs. B.F. BASHORE and Miss Elsie ORR went to Lima, Ohio, Monday morning on
account of the accidental killing of STARL RINEHART, nine by his brother
SCOTT, seven. The boys are nephews of Mrs. BASHORE and Miss ORR, being sons
of their sister, Mrs. J.R. RINEHART, who lives 11 miles south of Lima. The
accident took place Saturday afternoon when a revolver in the hands of one of
the brothers was accidentally discharged.

MORE COMFORT BAGS NEEDED, page 1
FULTON COUNTY RED CROSS HAS ALREADY MADE and DONATED 39 to SOLDIERS
The Fulton County Red Cross has made and given 39 comfort bags to the boys
who left Friday. Talma cage three; Akron 10 and Rochester 26. Kewanna
supplied her men last week. The 39 more needed must be ready by October 5th,
and the society will appreciate offers of help.
The following friends each supplied one bag for which the Red Cross
acknowledges the obligation:
