I have a general genealogy question that I need help answering.
Are my neice's sons my Great Nephews or my Grand Nephews?
Are my Dad's sisters my children's Great Aunts or Grand Aunts?
Are these Aunts my grandchildren's Great Great Aunts or Great Grand Aunts?
I have heard both ways used and hope someone can sort it out.
We solved the problem with my Aunt as she is 'Gran the Great'
All of the above. Great and grand are functionally the same. I prefer to
use grandaunt or granduncle, etc., as one word and with no hyphens because
grammatically it makes more sense and is consistent with the use of the word
grandparent. We have grandfathers and great (adjective) fathers, but no
greatfathers.
