Are you sure "Squire" isn't his first name? I just came across someone in
Lancashire, England, whose first name was "Squire."

I am researching an ancestor that was married by a "Squire" Ira Maxwell in
1856. My ancestors Civil War records listed a marriage performed in
Franklin County, Indiana by Squire Ira Maxwell however I have had no luck
tracking down an official record. My ancestor lived in Montgomery County,
Ohio which makes no sense why he was married in Indiana. Especially since
both parties were of legal age. I have seen an Ira Maxwell listed in some
Butler County, OH information but do not know if it is the same person.
If anyone has information on Ira Maxwell and where he would have performed
marriage ceremonies it would help my search immensely. I have not been
able to track anything substantial prior to 1860 other than the notation
of this marriage. So I am at a stand still.
