Now that I look at this info, I don't know that it connects, but knowing that these
Harts were in Whitewater Township in Franklin County very early as was Isaac, I just have
to wonder. For many years this Hart family was the only Hart family in Whitwater
Township. Anyway, here is what I found in our abstract.(I won't include the legal
description, unless you want it.) This was 40.72 acres in section 8 of Whitewater
Township.
This real estate was originally entered from the United States by William Hart in 1836.
William died prior to Dec. 2, 1853, leaving as heirs, a son John Hart, and John's
three daughters, Elizabeth Hutchinson, Mary Tomlinson, and Hester White. On Dec. 2, 1853,
these three daughters and their husbands conveyed their interests in the property to their
father, John Hart.
John Hart died prior to Sept. 6, 1901, leaving as heirs, nine children, namely: George W.
Hart, John Thomas Hart, Iradell Hart, Robert Hart, William H. Hart, Jonathan Hart, Sarah
Schoonover, Martha Shockley, and Hannah Israel. After that there are numerous conveyances
among these relatives, but George Hart eventually ended up with property.(If at some point
you are interested, I can give you all of those transactions too) He sold it to Hortensea
Roark, and she sold it to Leo Walter. (my husband's uncle) We bought this as part of
our farm in 1965.
Maybe some clue will arise from this. I have never found a Carruthers family in this
area. Good Luck.
Barb Walter
