Barbara,
In the State Library, Columbus, Ohio, there is a copy of "A concise History
of the Pioneer Association of Franklin and Union Counties, Indiana and Butler
County, Ohio" published by order of the Association, Bert S. Barlow,
Historian. Published about 1901. This was the Association that organized the
Pioneer Picnics that went from about 1800 to 1941.
As I recall, there is also a copy of the above in the Brookville (Franklin
County, Indiana) library.
There is also information on this Picnic in a fairly recently published
history of Franklin County, Indiana.
My gggrandfather, John Abbott was a charter member of the Pioneer Picnic,
and the first member to die. In the above mentioned publication, there are
notes (with limited genealogical information as I recall) on the (about) 35
charter members of the organization. The picnics were held on a wooded cross
roads in north east Franklin County.
Jim Abbott
