I have extensive data on the John Abbott who settled in Franklin about 1823
on what is now called Abbott Road running west from the State Line Road just
north of Peoria. The family is generally gone from Franklin County, but
there are still some descendants in Brookville that I know of. John Abbott was
one of the founders of the "Pioneer Picnic" that was held in Franklin County
from about 1880 until the beginning of the WW II
Also quite interested in Morris and Ray. James Brown Ray practiced law in
Brookville in the 1820 - 182x, and became governor of Indiana from about
1828-1832 or so. His nephew was also in Brookville at the same time, and went to
Cincinnati after his Uncle was no longer governor.
Both the Abbott and Morris families have close ties to Butler County as well
(Reily Township). I'd be glad to correspond with any one studying these
families.
