Thank you for the information on John A. Lewis and Margaret (Dalzell) Lewis children. I
visited Indiana and obtained copies of records of all their children and all information
was correct, that thier father was John A. Lewis and mother Margaret (Dalzell) Lewis. The
only document I could not get was for John A. Lewis death certificate. He died in
Fortville, Indiana December 1910. The source is at the County Health Office in Hancock
County, Indiana book H-12 on page 126. But I was told that the book had been missing when
they moved to their new building. I was hoping it might of had the names of his parents. I
am at a real brick wall now. I did find John A. Lewis and Margaret (Dalzell) Lewis
marriage certificate in Preble county, Ohio, but did not have their parents names. I know
these are their right children from Margaret's newspaper obituary. In most of the
census it has John A. Lewis born in Indiana and his father born in Virgina and his mother
Ohio. I am at a loss of whe!
re to look next to try and find John A. Lewis sibblings or his parents. I have been to
the cemetery where John A. Lewis and Margaret are buried in Fortville but can not find out
anything more about them. I have been at this for several years and this is where I always
get stuck. Any help on what to do next would be appreciated. Oh yes I do know that John A.
Lewis was in the Civil War Union side 8th Indiana Regiment, Indiana Infantry company G,
Private, film number M540 roll 44 and that he was a invalid July 10, 1884 getting a civil
war pension and then Margaret was a widow drawing pension January 7, 1911 in Indiana.
Thanks
Betty
