Hi Terry,
I am interested in your comment regarding Sarah Price below.
I have a copy of a marriage record for Sarah Price and Thomas McFee in
Franklin County IN. I have not been able to place Thomas in my McFee family
yet. He is the right age to be a sibling or cousin to my Allen McFee
(1829-1901, came from PA and lived out his life in Franklin Co.).
The little information we have is that Thomas died in 1850 from an accident
and she went on to marry a Bennett. The similarity of your description
struck me below and it is not uncommmon for the McFee name to be read as
McKee. (I did look at the original record.)
Is there any chance that this Sarah is the same woman? Have you ever run
across any information on a Thomas McFee?
Thanks,
Jane McFee Sheetz

Message Board Post:
Several years ago I posted a message on this site about an estate I found
in microfilm records at the Indiana State Library for John Price in
Franklin county. I believe these are the Prices you are looking for.
Mentions father Joseph Price born New Jersey, and three brothers, Samuel
Joseph and Silas, and three sisters, Catherine Mary and Rebecca. I don`t
know if Mary was your Mary Hart, but suppose it possible. Samuel and
Joseph were in Franklin county through 1850, and Samuel through 1860.
Samuel`s daughter married into a Bennett family I was researching in
relation to my McKees in Dearborn county. Samuel`s children Sarah Price,
wife of Benjamin Bennett, and her brothers Wesley and Fletcher Price and
Benjamin`s brother Preston Bennett all went to Iowa and Samuel Price and
his wife Joanna Peak followed and died there. Here is the part of what I
posted about John`s estate:
While researching the Robert and Rhoda Bennett family of Dearborn County
Indiana I came across a probate record for this Price family in Franklin
County who came to Indiana from New Jersey. It is the estate of John Price
who died sometime before November 1833 when his brother Samuel was
appointed to administer his estate. On November 10 1834 Samuel reported to
the court on John`s estate. He listed assets of 40 dollars and 50 cents
being pay for services in the late war (1812?) obtained by Honorable Amos
Lane. 20 dollar legacy due to deceased from the estate of Joseph Price
deceased, late of New Jersey, father of said John Price. And 25 cents, the
value of a powder horn, being all the goods and chattels of said deceased
which had come to attention of said administrator.
After paying bills and expenses the amount left for disbursement was 41
dollars and 54 cents. This was distributed as follows:
Disbursement to two brothers of deceased, Joseph and Silas, 12 dollars and
62 cents.
To three sisters, Catherine, Mary and Rebecca, 20 dollars.
To Samuel Price, administrator of estate, his share as brother of
deceased, 6 dollars and 50 cents.
A small amount in addition went to pay fees for clerk, etc.
Terry
