Randy and All,
I am still searching for the link between Sarah PATTY b. Feb. 11, 1816
in IN (probably Franklin Co.); m. Dec 1, 1835 in Liberty, Union County,
IN to Joseph Wood; d. May 2, 1864 in Ladoga, Montgomery Co., IN; and her
PATTY ancestors. She appears to have had at least two siblings in Union
County in that period, Mary and Rebecca PATTY.
I believe her father to be James PATTY, f.c. 1820 Liberty Twp., Franklin
Co., IN p 214 and f.c. 1830 Union Co., IN p. 226. I have found no other
documentation on James PATTY except for his listing on the muster roll
of the Franklin County Militia in 1812.
I believe this James PATTY migrated from South Carolina along with the
Quakers in the 1806-1815 period. He is listed on the same Franklin Co.
f.c. 1820 page as a number of the Isaac COOK family members indicating a
close physical proximity at that time, and possibly a marriage tie
somewhere. I suspect he traveled with the COOK's from South Carolina.
In addition, I believe that this James PATTY is closely related to the
PATTY's of SC who migrated to Butler and Miami Counties of Ohio, with
another James PATTY finally settling in Carroll County, IN. Through the
process of elimination, I have ruled out all but one set of SC PATTY's
as possible parents. This would be Charles PATTY, b. 1753 & Mary Jane
JAY, b. 1755 However, I have yet to make the link-up. I do not have
sufficient information regarding the family of Charles and Mary and his
subsequent spouses.
I have searched the libraries and court houses at Liberty, Brookville
and Lawrenceburg, IN, Hamilton, Greenville and Troy, OH, Union, Newberry
and Spartanville Co's. SC, the Earlham Collage Library, the SC State
Archives, and the National Archives. I have compiled much information
about these families, but to date, no links.
Any suggestions?
Furthermore, I really enjoy and utilize the Franklin County web page. It
is one of the best I've seen. It just keeps getting better. Thank you.
