Occassionally I mention this to a list - in case the NEWBIES dont know
about it . Random Acts of Geneaological Kindness - RAOGK - > This is a great
site if you need an out of town lookup . These are all VOLUNTEERS who will do
various kinds of free lookups - { in some instances a reimbursement is
necessary } . I do lookups for 3 different states from my personal resources &
some from the Library in Missouri . RAOGK can always use more VOLUNTEERS .
Even if you only have ONE resource -- maybe a cemetery book or a census book
for a particular year for a particular county -- any help would be welcome &
much appreciated by those who dont have the same . I have been helped by
many of the volunteers in other states - so I am just saying -- if someone
from RAOGK blesses you with some kind of " help " why not pass it on and
share a RESOURCE that you may have . Everyone does not have the time to go to
the Library even every other weekend but a resource ' in home ' can be
invaluable to someone who is looking for a clue ' to break through a brick wall
'
& wont take tht much time to do a look for someone . I am currently
INDEXING 3 old , big books tht I have acquired -- to make it faster to do a "
look " . Let me tell you -- now tht is work . This will take me months ! I
am acquiring a great appreciation for the people who are uploading so much
info on the internet & indexing it .
Anyway , thought I would put tht bug in youre ear :) in case the Newbies
dont know about RAOGK .
RAOGK.org -- pass it on
sheri
writting my family history & leaving a legacy for my children & grandchildren
