I have a copy of the deaths from the records in Oldenburg. It is not to
the present date. I think they go to about 1968. Janet Shade sent this to
me several years ago. I'm not sure who the originator was, but it was
someone named Ruth.
Yes, there are a lot of missing and sunken stones there. My family had 3
buried there and we were barely able to make out the stone when we were
there a few years ago.
Oh that moss is terrible stuff. You almost have to blast to get it off to
where you can read the stones. I don't recommend blasting though. <G>
I'd be glad to do a lookup for you. Just let me know who to look for.

Is there an official record of who is buried in Holy Family Cemetery
in Oldenburg, IN? I visited it today & there are many gaps in the rows
with sunken ground in the oldest section to the left of the entrance.
I know there are graves not marked. I think I tripped on several of
them as the ground suddenly deepened under my feet.
Also, many of the stones have eroded, partially or totally missing
from their foundation, are written in German or have so much moss
caked on them that it's impossible to get a reading. The moss is like
petrified barnacles.
If anyone knows of such a record, could you tell me where it is kept?
Best Wishes,
Donna
