This is my latest attempt to get over or around one of my longest standing
"brick walls." This John Bradford was my 4g-grandfather, and I have
absolutely nothing on his parents or siblings, not even a name. Following
is his vital information:
JOHN BRADFORD
b. 25 Jul 1798 (in most likely PA or TN)
m. Sarah Blades 20 Jan 1817 in Franklin Co., IN
d. unknown, but last found in the census in 1860
Children:
Isaac (1827-1908)
Harvey (1828-1900)
Emaline Mary (1830- )
John Herod (1832-1904)
Sarah Ann (1833-1900)
Jonathan William (1838-1903(
I have found places of birth of "Tenn" on one census and "Penn" on
another
census, but the difference may well just be poor handwriting. However, I
have also found some folks who believe he could have been born in MD, VA, or
NC so this only adds to the confusion. He married Sarah in Franklin Co., IN
and was last found there in the 1860 census as a widower living with his
children, so I am surmising he died between 1860 and 1870.
If anyone out there thinks this sounds familiar, or possibly has some
parents and siblings for this John Bradford, I would be extatic. He has
been my one major brick almost as long as I have been doing genealogy, and I
would sure like to find him. I do not want to think that he stepped off of
a space ship in Tennessee or Pennsylvania in 1798 and has never had any
siblings or parents, but I am to the point where that is the only thing that
fits the details I have been able to piece together.
