Hello Helen,
The Squires that I am researching came from Huntingdonshire, England
about 1850. My g.g.grandmother's name was Mary Ann Squires, she married
Thomas Ashpole. In 1851/2, Mary Ann and Thomas came to America, first
settling in Ohio and having a son there, then moving to Greenwood Co,
Kansas before 1860. In the 1860 census, Eureca Twp, there is also a
William and Elizabeth Squires from England. They had 3 children in
Illinois before moving to Kansas; Ann, Lydia, and James. I believe
William is her brother.
Does this William and family fit your Squires?
Regards, Loni
