Hugh Tins(z?)ly Davies and wife Sarah came from Wales in early 1800's and settled in
Western In. They dropped the "e" out of their name. At some point the Mother
Sarah fell as she attemped to board a train in Indiana and died a few days later.
Their son Hugh Davis married Sarah Huffman (granddaughter of William) in 1850 Hillsboro,
IN. Hugh and Sarah's children:
Mary, Arthur, Joseph, Mina, Stephen and Charles were born there.
In 1865 Hugh joined the 154th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers.
About 1867 the family along with Sarah's family moved westward to Crawford County
Kansas.
Sarah had another child Sarah (nick name Sadie) Sarah died during child birth.
Hugh moved to Barton County, Mo. and married Mary Jane Tonget in 1880 in Barton County Mo.
He was almost 48 at the time and was 30 years older then Mary Jane. It is said that Mary
Jane was younger then then Hugh's four oldest children.
The 1st paragraph has not been to be proven. It now is thought that perhaps Stephen
Davis might have been the man that started this family in Fountain County. The rest of
the family data has been proven. There is no clear indication of how many of Hugh's
and Sarah's children might have moved to Kansas with them or who could have been
Hugh's siblings.
