in the book HISTORY OF FOUNTAIN COUNTY INDIANA 1983, several families in the area wrote
histories of their families. in the history of george and florence stoup. it goes on
tellingof the family. then it says dollie florence, daughter of osborne and rose anna
belle norman payton, was born by sugar creek in parke county. osborne was the son of eli
and nancy ann manley payton who had come from ohio by covered wagon and owned land and
cattle in parke county. rose anna belle was a daughter of david and amanda cope noman of
new ross, indiana. david norman was a blacksmith and a veteran of the civil war.
florence's daddy died in 1897 and her mother later married james carr. they moved to a
house in walker's woods, north of wallace, in jackson township around 1900.
