her husband, Alfred SWANK was lying in a serious condition with
pneumonia and her 8 small children were confined to their beds with
severe cases of the measles, Mrs. Anna Swank, 36 a resident of near
here, died at Home Hospital in Lafayette Friday. Uremic poisoning
following the birth of her 9th child, caused her death. Mr. Swank was
ill with the measles and the affliction has developed into pneumonia.
Friends fear that the shock of his wife's death may cause his death and
make 9 children orphans. The oldest of the children is but 16. Mrs.
Swank was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Peek of New Richmond. She was
born in this county in 1880. Besides her parents, her husband and 9
children, she is survived by two brothers, Earl Peek of Wingate; Will
Peek of New Richmond; Mrs. Grover Shotts and Mrs. Thomas Morris, New
Richmond, Mrs. Blanche Thompson of Indianapolis and Mrs. Mamie Lockhard
of Odell. Short services will be held at the home Sunday and the body
will then be taken to the Christian Church in New Richmond where
services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2. Burial in New Richmond.

Crawfordsville Review Saturday May 6, 1916 – Lafayette May 5 – Mrs. Ann
SWANK wife of Alfred Swank who lives near new Richmond died at the Home
Hospital at 4:30 this morning. A baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs.
Swank at the hospital 10 days ago and complications set in that resulted
in the death of the mother. She was born Jan 9, 1880 in this state and
was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John PEEK of New Richmond. Mrs. Swank
was a true Christian woman and her death is a particularly sad one.
Besides the husband she leaves 9 children, the oldest being 16. She also
leaves 3 sisters and two brothers. The body was prepared for burial at
Folkemer parlors and funeral will be from the home north of New Richmond
Saturday afternoon.
