Subject: [InFounta] James Jackson Obit
The Covington Republican
18 July 1902
Death in a Saw Mill
James Jackson, who lived near Cates, met death in a horrible manner about
4
o'clock Saturday afternoon. He and his fourteen year old son John were
cutting
some three inch strips at the saw mill, when one of the boards cut was
caught by the saw and hurled in such a way as to drive it endways into
the abdomen
of Mr. Jackson, mortally wounding him. He was knocked down but did not
lose
consciousness, but died before medical aid could give any assistance.
Mr. Jackson was a man of family, aged about fifty years, honest and
industrious and respected by all.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, interment being made in
Centennial cemetery. Mrs. Jackson is a sister of Mrs. Esquire Martin, of
this
city.
