O. L. MYERS life resident of Parke County died Thursday of last week at his home west of
Waveland. Death was caused by heart attack. Born July 26, 1870 the son of John Anderson
and Mary Elizabeth MYERS, he married Laura LITSEY who preceded him in death Feb 9, 1940.
Mr. Myers was a vice president and director of the Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance and
had been an agent for the company for 40 years. He was a member of the Marshall Federated
Church and Masonic & Woodmen Lodges of Marshall. There survive two sons: Fred of
Waveland and Oscar of Marshall; 3 daughters, Mrs. Bernice JARVIS of Waveland; Mrs. Alice
HOCKETT and Mrs. Virginia McCampbell of Marshall; two sisters, Mrs. Dollie CANINE and Miss
Tina Myers of Marshall; a brother, Jess of Linnsburg; 9 grandchildren and six greats and
one foster grandson. A daughter, Mary preceded him in death in 1918. Funeral services
were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Marshall Federated Church conducted by

Rockville Tribune, February 14, 1940 -- The Marshall community suffered a severe shock
Fri. when it was learned that Mrs. Laura Myers, wife of O. L. Myers, a prominent farmer of
Howard Twp. located E. of Marshall, had died of a sudden heart attack. She had been in
usual health prior to the attack. Mrs. Myers was b. Oct 20, 1873 in Howard Twp. and lived
all her life in the same township. She was a d/o Henry and Caroline Litsey. On Nov. 9,
1892 she was married to O. L. Myers and their entire married life was spent on the same
farm. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Presbyterian church; Eastern Star and Royal
Neighbors. She is survived by the husband; two son, Fred of Waveland and Bion of near
Marshall; three daughters, Mrs. Clovis Jarvis and Mrs. J. W. McCampbell of near Marshall;
and Miss Alice Myers at home; six grandchildren; a twin sister, Mrs. Mahlon Hadley of
Marshall and two brothers, Elmer and Luther Litsey of near this place. A daughter, Mary

ly 1913?). The Federated church was filled to capacity Sun. afternoon for the funeral
services Re v. Frederick Cromer was in charge. Mrs. Kenneth Morgan, Mrs. Roscoe
McCampbell, LA Pickard and John Cummings sang, "Near the Cross," "When They
Ring the Golden Bells," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," with piano
accompaniment by Mrs. John Cummings. The obituary was prepared and read by Paul Myers of
Kingman. During the services, agent s and directors of the Mutual Ins. company with their

Waveland Independent, July 28, 1922 -- John Anderson Myers, who has been ill for almost
two years following a paralytic stroke died on Thursday afternoon of last week at his home
near Pleasant View. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church on Sat. afternoon
Rev. Isaiah Whitman being in charge. Interment in the cemetery nearby. The following
obituary was read: John Anderson Myers, son of John and Temperance Floyd Myers was born in
Howard Twp, Parke Co In Feb 5, 1847 passed away July 20, 1922. The fact that he spent the
74 years, 5 months and 15 days of his life at the farm on which he was born in unusual.
On Oct 7, 1869, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Myes. 7 children were given to them,
five sons and two daughters, all survive the father. On Nov. 19, 1920, Mr. Myers suffered
a paralytic stroke and for almost two years he was an invalid. Through the tender care of
his family and through the faithful service of Elijah Weaver, who has been with him since

Feb his life was prolonged until July 20, 1922. Mr. Myers was widely known, he was what
we may term a pioneer, his life spanned an epoch which was the most important in American
history. Jovial, charitable, generous, neighborly, paternal love and a true friend were
some of his characteristics and they are conductive to good citizenship. His passing away
is not only a loss to his family, but to the entire community as well. His life's
mission has been fully accomplished and the world is infinitely better for the long life
of John A. Myers. He has long been a member of the Lutheran Church. To mourn are his
faithful wife for almost 53 years, the children: O. L. Myers of Waveland; Charles E of
Waynetown, AW of Peoria, Ill; Mrs. Charles Canine of Marshall; Elijah n. of Baltimore MD;
Jesse of Waveland and Tina at home; 15 grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services

Waveland Independent July 12, 1918 -- Miss Mary Myers, 19 years of age, oldest d/o M/M O.
L. Myers of Howard Twp died at the home of her parents Fri. morning at 10 o'clock
after a little over 3 weeks illness of typhoid fever which developed into pneumonia. The
immediate cause of Miss Myers' death was the breaking of an abscess on her lung. Miss
Myers was a favorite in her community and poplar with a large circle of friends. She was a
grad. of Marshall HS Class of 1917, and took an active part in all work for the betterment
of the school and her classmates. During the recent war chest drive her ability and
patriotism was recognized and she was honored by being named Twp. sec. The excellent
record of this unit was attributed in a large extent to her untiring efforts and ability.
Miss Myers for several. years has been assistant correspondent to the Tribune. Funeral
services were held at the Presbyterian. church in Marshall, Sun aft at 2:30 o'clock

attended of any ever held in the northern part of the county. Six young ladies, classmates
of Miss Myers, acted as bearers of the pall and six young women served as flower bearers -

Crawfordsville Journal-Review Wed January 12, 1944 - Word was received here Sat. of the
death of Wally Myers, age 69 years, who died at his home in Peoria, Ill about 7
o'clock that evening after a short illness. Mr. Myers was b. in Howard Twp, Parke Co
in the Byron community E. of here on Aug 22, 1874 a son of John A and Mary Eliz. Myers. He
was married Oct 24, 1896 to Marie O'Feral. They left Parke Co in 1910 for Peoria where
they have since resided. The deceased was an employee of a railroad company most of his
life. In former years, he was a member of the Lutheran Church at Wallace. Surviving are
the widow; a granddaughter, Mrs. Virgil Lane and 3 great granddaughters, all of Peoria; 3
brothers, O. L. Myers of near Marshall; Charles Myers of Waynetown; Jesse Myers of
Linnsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Canine and Miss Tina Myers of Marshall. One brother,

Howard of Linnsburg, spent Sun. at the Myers home in Peoria.
? Newspaper -- Catherine Myers, widow of the late Jacob Myers departed this life July 26,
1884 aged 91 years, 9 months and 25 days. Deceased was born in Davidson Co NC On Oct 1,
1792. She was married to Jacob Myers 1809 with whom she lived as companion and helpmate
until 1870 when she was left a widow. She was the mother of 10 children of whom 6 survive
her. She left 41 grandchildren and 131 great grandchildren and 18 great, great
grandchildren. In the year of 1811 she, with her husband, removed to what is now Harrison
Co, Indiana but owing to the Indian War and the War of 1812, they returned to the Old
North State again. Again in 1829, in the month of November, they started on another trip
to Indiana and landed the first days of Feb. 1830 and pitched tents about 3 miles
northeast of the Narrows of Sugar Creek. After remaining in Camp 7 days they removed to
Jackson Township, Fountain County, settling on the same lot of land and in the same yard
where she breathed her!

Crawfordsville Weekly Review, Sept ? 1881 (about the 5th) -- Frank Myers, brother to Eli
and Orpha Myers of this city, died in Rockville, Thursday morning of typhoid fever; age 35
years. He leaves no family.
"Kingman" -- Mrs. Nellie Robbins Myers, 72 d. at 2:30 a.m. Monday (April 25,
1953) at the residence on Kingman RR. The body is at the Branson funeral home where
services will be at 2 p.m. Wed. The Rev. E. M. Woodard will officiate and burial will be
in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Marshall, Indiana. Surviving are the husband, Vester and a
sister, Mrs. James Spencer of Rockville. she was b. April 30, 1882 in Parke Co, d/o Perry
and ARosa Mendenhall Robbins. Mrs. Myers was a member of Lusk Chapel Church. Unknown
