The Fountain County Genealogy Society is now taking memberships for
the 2007 year. Members receive 6 newsletters a year which contain
information of the people and history of the county. Membership forms
are available online at the address above.
Examples of articles that appeared in the 2006 year included the
story of the first & only hanging in the county, the creation of the
twps of the county, Hillsboro woman commits suicide by drowning
herself in a cistern, history of Rob Roy, finding the sister of a
woman who had searched for years to locate her, history of the Wabash
Railroad, pictures of school children in the late 1800's, indian
scare in Richland Twp, history of Rob Roy, the story behind the
murals in the courthouse, how to "witch" cemeteries, the controversy
over the county seat, plus many more. The sources of our newsletters
come from our history books, Country Cousin Magazines, old
newspapers, etc.

Let me say, I have been a member for several years and find the
newsletters are full of very good information, most of which you
could only find by making a trip to Fountain County, thus making it
very worthwhile.
