Crawfordsville Review Wed Feb 9, 1916 -- Mellott Feb 8 -- A telegram was received here
Monday morning announcing the death of John WEBB, a former resident of Mellott. He died
Sunday night of pneumonia at his home near Guthrie, OK where he with his wife who was Miss
Daily Hatt established a home. He leaves besides the wife, 3 children and a brother,
Charles Webb of this place who with his wife left here Monday afternoon to attend the
funeral which will be held at their Oklahoma home.

Crawfordsville Review, Thurs Feb 10, 1916 -- Kingman -- Zachariah RATCLIFF a highly
respected farmer of this vicinity died Tuesday night ath is home 3 miles north of here. He
had been suffering for several weeks from dropsy. Mr. Ratcliff who was 66 has lived in
this vicinity all his life. His wife has been dead about 2 years and since that time Mr.
Ratcliff has lived alone on his farm. The funeral will beheld at the Centennial Church
Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 and will be in charge of Rev. John MeHaughe. Mr. Ratcliff has
been a Mason many years and the ritualistic services of that order will also be held.
Those surviving are two brothers: David of Kingman and Silas of KS and one sister Mrs.
Edward Lindley of Bloomingdale. Also 3 half sisters, Mrs. Elmer Bowers and Misses Syreptha
and Ida Ratcliff of Kingman.

Crawfordsville Satu Feb 12, 1916 -- Covington Feb 11 -- A telegram was received here
announcing the death of George RITCHEY of Chaldron, NB and that the body would be sent to
Covington. Ritchey was 24 and was a railroader. It is not exactly known hwo he met death
but it is understood he was caught between the cars while making a coupling and his life
crashed out. He was the son of Jacob Ritchey of this city. He went to NB about 10 years
ago secured employment and was making good. His mother and younger brother also lived in
Chaldron and they accompanied the body back to Covington arriving here Wed evening. the
rmains were taken to the home of an uncle, Enoch Romine across the river where the funeral
was held Thursday afternoon and interment made in Mount Cem, Rev EW Strecker officiating.

Crawfordsville Saturday Feb 12, 1916 -- Covington Feb 11 -- Charles GORDON 47 died at 1
o'clock this morning at the home of George Low who lives on the Sam VanDorn place
north of the city. He had been sick only a few days and was taken suddenly worse during
the night and death is attributed to pneumonia. His home was in New Philadelphia, Ohio but
he came here from Danville last Oct and went to work for Mr. Lowe who says that he was
exceptionally good man on the farm.

Crawfordsville Review Saturday Feb 12, 1916 -- The body of William WHITE, 76, who died
Wednesday morning at the home of his son, Dr. WJ WHite in Gary from paralysis arrived in
Covington over the Big Four Thursday afternoon. The remains were taken to the old hom
place across the river in Warren Co where the funeral will be held Friday afternoon and
burial made in the Wright Cemetery near Grange Corner. Mr. White was a native of Ft. Co
and born in the Bend neighborhood north of the city. He spent the greater part of his life
in Warren Co where he owned a farm. A few years ago he sold his farm, invested in Gary
real estate and went to that city to live with his son. he was a soldier in the Civil War
and participate din number of hot engagements. In one of these battles he was seriously
wounded and was left on the battlefield for dead. A rebel soldier finally came along and
carried him to a nearby spring and administered to his wounds. Mr. White often said had it
not been for the kindly ministration of the rebel soldier he would have died and been
buried on a southern battlefield.
