Crawfordsville Journal-Review Oliver J. BANTZ, Covington Dies - March 22 -- Oliver j.
BANTZ, 82, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, where he had
been a patient 4 months. Mr. Bantz had been ill the past two years. Hew as born Jan 19,
1866, in Fountain County, the son of Jacob and Sara Bantz, July 18, 1888, he was married
to Georgeanna Rhodes, Covington who died Sept 30, 1944. He spent most of his life in
Covington and in the Salem neighborhood north of town where he farmed for many years. He
was a member of the Salem Methodist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Belle
Galloway; a sister, Mrs. Anna Porterfield, of Sidney, ill; a brother, John Bantz, of
Richland, Wis; 3 grandchildren, Mrs. Gilbert Himebaught; Miss Georgianna Galloway and Paul
Galloway and two great grandchilden. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the
Covington Methodist church with Rev. Kenneth Powell officiating and burial in Mt. Hope
Cemetery.
