Crawfordsville Journal Review 25 Jan 1982 p 2 --Clarence V. Fine of Indiapolis, formerly
of Wallace, died Monday morning, Jan 25 in St. Vincent Hospital at Indianapolis. He was
born at Wallace, May 10, 1901 the son of Jacob B & Maria Keller Fine. Jan 16, 1925, he
married Evelyn Fullenwider, who survives. A member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church
& Wallace Masonic Lodge, he had retired form Mallorys at Indiapolis. He also had been
an emplyee at Turkey Run State Park. Also surviving are a son, Earl Richard of Brookfield,
Wisc; a sister, Mrs. Clark Jones; two brothers, Austin & Earl and two granddaughters.
Funeral services wer eheld Wed. afternoona t Leppert & Copeland Morty. at
Indianpaolis. Burial in Washington Park E. Cemetery at Indianpaolis

Mrs. Cordelia Fine Dodd died at Culver Hosp in C'ville at 8:40 p.m. on Wed Oct 4. She
had been a patient htere two days. Mrs. Dodd was born Oct 31, 1879 near wallace, Ind.,
the daughter of Jacob David Fine and Catherine Krout Fine. She was married to Delaney R.
Dodd on June 17, 1899. She was a school teacher for 31 years in the Fountain County
schools, 22 years having been spent in the V'brg schools. She retired from teaching
in 1939. She was grad from Wallace HS,
attending IU and was grad from Madam Blakley's Teacher's College in Indianapolis.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Noblesville, Westfield Order of Eastern Star,
Garden study Club and the Research Club of
Noblesville. She had resided around Noblesville since her marr. For the past two months
she and her husband have been making their home with Mr. WR Bruner in C'ville. She is
survived by her husband, two step daus, Mrs. Norma Lee DeMoss of Noblesville and Mrs.
Josephine Schoolcraft of Madison, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held Sat, Oct 7 at 11 a.m. at the Bright Funeral Home in Crawfordsville.
Rev. Robert E. Pebly will be in charge and burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at
Waynetown. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday.

Crawfordsville Journal 18 May 1903 -- found in old scrapbook -- The angel of death hovered
over our city Sun. morning and at 1;45 o'clock took the spirit of Dr. Ephriam M. Fine
to that home eternal prepared in the great beyond. The death of Dr. Fine was a sad mesage
to his scores of friends throughout our county for none knew that he was ailing and but
few were apprised of his serious condition until they heard of his death. in the fall of
1896 he suffered a slight paralytic stroke from which he soon recovered and in the fall of
1899 he suffered a second attack, which came near proving fatal. During last week he
remarked to friends while aroun the city that he was not feeling well and on Fri. eve he
felt a slight attack of the dreadful disease but seemed to recover Sat monring he went to
the barn and fed his horse and in getting out of the mow could not use his right arm. He
returned to the house and telling his good wife, she encouraged him and began rubbing his
arm -it grew worse. She summond medical aid and in the afternoon he grew much better,
talked freely and ate a hearty supper after completeing the meal he lay back in bed and
fell asleep. They did not molest him for some time and when they tried to awaken him found
that they could not. All the doctors in the city had called on him and they tried to
arouse him without avail as he was unconscious and was sleeping the sleep of death. he
never regained consciousness and at 1:45 o'clock surrounded by family and friends,
passed away. Dr. Fine was born near Wallace, ind, June 13th 1844. he was a son of Mr. Levi
and Susanah fine, who came to this county from NC. In 1857 they moved to Iowa, returning
in 1860 they settled near Urbana. A few months before he was 21 the doctor went to w ork
for himself on afarm. Dr. DN Myer a boyhood companion persuaded him to sell his crop and
they would go to work, secure an education and become professional men. He returned to
this county went to common school for about 4 years, spending two tersms at the State
Univ. and teaching one year to aid him in his work, all the time reading medical works and
spending a season reading with D.r Steele at Waveland. in 1870 he and Dr. Myers went to
Rush Medical College, returning there in the fall of '71 stayiing until the great fire
when they went to Ohio medical college at Cincinnati where he grad. in 1872. All the time
that he was going to school and medical college, he made his way by honest toil and
determination to win. He and Dr. Myer located in the old town of Chambersburg and in the
fall of'72 he went to Steam Corner and continued practice ther euntil 1892 when he
moved to this city, and as all know enjoyed the confidence and patronage of a large circle
of the county's best people. he was marr. May 8,1 873 to Mary E. Myers, who has made
him agood and noble wife. To their union two children were born, Harry, a prominent
attorney at Crawfordsville and a little daughter who die din infancy. he was though a
father, to hisstepson, Byrone E. Myers. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Marla Timpson of Long
Island City, NY and Mrs. Kate Ferguson of Peoria, and one brother, David Fine of this
community. Dr. Fine was a member of the Modern Woodmen and Foresters. The fun. serv. was
conducted by Rev. OP Cooper, Tues monring at 8:30 o'clocka fter which the reamins were
taken tot eh Lutheran church in jackson Twp where a service was held by Re. vWhitman and
qat it sonclusion the remains were laid to rest in the cem. nearby. The Pall beaerers
being Dr. Stout, Hender son and CC Myers of Covington; ND Myer of Decator, Ross, Shoaf,
McNCeill and Petet of this city. In the death of Dr. Fine our city looses a good citizen
and the medical professiona a valuable member. He was a careful, honest and honorable man
positive in his convictions and firm and zealous in his every undertaking. There was no
deceit in him, his ever act was open to the world and he accept criticism with equal favor
to praise. He was truly self made and the success he achieved was wholly due to his person
ability, energy ambition and untiring seal to have victory crown hisundertakings. The
sorrow stricken widow, his sons and many other relatives have the sincere sympathy of
everyone in this darkest hour of thier lives.

Veedersburg News ? date - MARY ELLEN FINE DIES. Mrs. Mary E. Fine passed away Friday
morning at her home in Crawfordsville, after having been ill since January first. Mrs.
Fine was 88 years of age and had lived in Crawfordsville for several years past. Previous
to that time she had been a resident of Veedersburg and Fountain county. Mrs. Fine was
born near Wallace in Fountain county, Indiana, on January 14 1845. On March 12 1863, she
was married to Levi F. Myers of the same community. Mr Myers died November 17 1864,
leaving surviving his widow and their son, Byron F Myers, who now resides near Steam
Corner, south of Veedersburg. She continued to reside in the same community except for a
brief period spent in St. Paul,
Minn., until May 8 1873, when she married Dr. E. M. Fine, who then was beginning the
practice of medicine at Steam Corner, at which place they reside until 1892, when they
moved to Veedersburg, where Dr. Fine continued the
practice of medicine until his death on May 17 1903. Two children were born of this
marriage: Effie P. Fine, who died in infancy, and Harry N. Fine, now of Crawfordsville.
Soon after the death of Dr. Fine, Mrs. Fine moved to Crawfordsville, where she has since
resided. When a young girl, she became a member of the Lutheran church, located near
Wallace and after her removal to Veedersburg she placed her membership in the Presbyterian
church, and upon removal to Crawfordsville she became a member of
Center church, now the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her two sons,
three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted at
the Lutheran church near Wallace at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and burial was made in
the cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. Melvin V. Oggel, pastor of the Wabash Avenue
Presbyterian church
of Crawfordsville, had charge of the services. Mrs. Fine was a splendid woman and worthy
of the high respect she enjoyed throughout her entire lifetime. Note from KZ -- she was

Harry N. Fine prominent Crawfordsville ttorney and a native of Fountaine County died
Monday night at his home there after being ill for over a year The son of Dr. EM Fine
and Mary Ellen Fine, Mr. Fine was born in Steam Corner, in Fountain County June 1, 1876.
On Oct 20, 1898, Mr. Fine was married to Alta M. Griest, daughter of Edwin F. Griest and
Mary Miller Griest, of near Garfield. Mr. Fine was alwyas active in the religious and
civic affairs of his community. Mr. Fine also held membership in Montgomery Lodge No 50
of the Masonic fraternity; Athens chapter of the OES; Modern Woodmen; Travelers pRotective
Associ and was a lif emember of the lOyal Order of Moose. He was a past worshipful master
of Masonic Lodge and past worthy patron of ES. Mr. fine had also been an active member of
the quiatenon Club for many years. Mr. fine is survived by his widow and their daughter,
Mary Ellen Black of Chicago. His half brother, Byron F. Myers, preceded him in death as
did his sister, Effie Pearl fine who died in infancy. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Bright Funeral Home with burial at Oak Hill Cem.

Crawfordsville Journal Review June 22, 1955 -- Mrs. Olive Fine, 80, 606 S. Walnut Street
(Crawfordsville) widow of Simeon H. fine, died Wednesday morning at Culver Hospital, two
hours after having been admitted as a patient. Born March 20, 1875, near Hillsboro, Mrs.
fFne was the daughter of Wesley Long and Eliza J. Booe Long. She married Simeon H. Fine
March 2,3 1904. THe husband died in 1932. Mrs. fine was a former teacher in the fountain
County schools. She as a member of the First Christian Church. She had been a resident
of Crawfordsville since 1914. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Hyson J. Myer of Hillsboro
and Mrs. Harry P. Cooper of Indianapolis; a brother, Walter Long of HIllsboro and 15
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: John, Everett and Alec Long
and a sister, Mrs. Ella Leonard. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the
Bright Funeral Home followed by burial at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Rev. Paul Million
will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home afternoon
Thursday.

William E. Fine, 77 a life-long res. of Ft and W. Mont Co, died at 7:15 o'clock Monday
eve at the home of his dau, Mrs. Foster Watts, of Waynetown. He ha been seriously ill for
3 weeks of a heart ailment.
Mr. Fine was b. in the Wallace neighborhood in Ft. Co on Jan 13, 1874 the s/o David and
Catherine Krout Fine. He was marr on Aug 10, 1895 in Ft Co to Miss Buena Vista Powers who
d. Jan 5, 1927. He was a member of the Lutheran Church at Wallace and the Masonic Lodge
at Waynetown.
