Kingman Star, July 14, 1960 -- A message was received by Mrs. Roy Lindley of the death
Sunday night of her uncle, Alonzo Gooding of Waynetown. He was 84 years of age and was a
retired farmer. He had resided in The Waynetown vicinity for the past 40 years. Funeral
services were Wednesday at 2 pm. from Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown interm was made
in Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown.

services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market.
Buria will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Crawfordsville. The Rev RC Plank of the Warren
Methodist Home will officiate. THe body will be brought tot he Reeves Funeral Home Monday
afternoon following services at the Warren Methodist Home earlier in the day.

Waveland Independent, Aug 20, 1953 -- Ephie GOODING, 81, a retired farmer died Sunday at
the Warren Methodist home in Warren. He had been in failing health for several months.

Crawfordsville where he had been a patient three weeks. He had been in failing health for
several months. Born April 27, 1893, in Fountain county, he was the son of Isaac and
Sarah Clouse Gooding. On April 27, 1918 he was married to Viola Allen at Rockville who
survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, George e of Crawfordsville, Russell of Wallace and
Dale of Kingman Rt 1 and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two
sisters. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown
with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Lutheran Cemtery.
Friends may calla the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
? Newspaper -- July 1970 -- George W. Gooding, 77, who resided near Wallace, died at 1:20
a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health several
months and seriously ill since June 18 when he suffered a stroke. Mr. Gooding had resided
on and operated the same farm SE of Wallace the past 51 years. born April 27, 1893 in
Fountain County, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac and Sarah Clouse Gooding. He was
married April 27, 1918 to Viola Allen. They were married at Rockville. Survivors include
the widow, 3 sons, George E of Crawfordsville; Russell of Wallace an Dale of Rt 1, Kingman
and 8 grand. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister in infancy and another
sister, Mrs. Lulu Henthorn. Services were held at 3 p.m .Tuesday at the Servies-Thomas
Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. Burial was in Wallace
Lutheran Cemetery.

Danville Commercial News - Wallace IN, Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas
Funeral Home in Waynetown for Mrs. Viola Gooding, 92, of Crawfordsville Route 3, a life
resident of Wallace. She died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug 13 1981, at the Lane Nursing Home
in Crawfordsville. Death was attributed to natural causes.
The Rev. John Foxworthy will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Gooding, a housewife, had
attended the yeddo Old Settlers Reunion in Veedersburg ever since she was six years old.
The first Yeddo Settlers Reunion was hald in 1878. Last year, she accepted the award for
having attended the most of the annual events and the oldest woman attending. She had
attended 89 of the reunions. In an interview with the commercial News last year, she
quipped, "If I could have been born sooner, I could have -- and would have-- attended
even more." The two missed were because of illness, she recalled. She just missed
this yeare's reunion to be held next week. She attended rural Parke county schools.
Born April 27 1889, in Parke county, she was the daughter of Cornelius "Neil"
and Hariet Sowers Allen. She was married April 27 1918 to George W. Gooding, who died
July 5 1970. Survivors include three sons, George Earl of Crawfordsville, Russell and Dale
both of Wallace; a sister, Mrs. Icel Shelton of Crawfordsville; and nine grandchildren and
two great grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers also preceded her in death.

Danville Commercial News -- Kingman Ind. Gordon L. Gooding, 38, of New Market, a former
Kingman resident, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday May 28 1979, at St.
Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been ill a short time.
He had been employed for 17 years as assistant quality control manager at Impex in
Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Friends Union Church at Marshall and the Eagles
Lodge of Crawfordsville. He was a 1959 graduate of Turkey Run High School. Born March 6
1941 at Decatur, ill., he was the son of Robert and Madge Littrell Gooding. On Dec 3
1972, he married Sherry Hunt who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Brooke
and Stacey, both at home; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Drollinger of
Kingman; two brothers, Robert Gooding Jr. of Crawfordsville and George Allen of Ladoga;
two stepsisters, Mrs. Esther Downing of Oakwood, Ill., and Mrs. Helen Rahn of Kingman and
a stepbrother, Norman Drollinger of Veedersburg. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at
Woodland Heights Christian Church at Crawfordsville with the Rev. Jack Austin officiating.
Burial will be in Masonic
Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Hunt & Sons
Funeral Home in Crawfordsville.

Monroe Gooding, died Wed. afternoon at her home south of Wallace. She had been ill 18
months. A lifelong resident of this community (Wallace) Mrs. Gooding was born Aug, 8,
1888 near Yeddo. Her parents were John and Mary Bowers Sackmire. Mrs. Gooding married
Monroe Gooding April 16, 1916, at the Lutheran parsonage in Wallace. She was a member of
the Wallace Christian church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dan Fox at home, a grandson,
Daniel Wayne Fox, also at home, one sister, Mrs. Clara Palmer of Yeddo and several nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the
Wallace Christian church with burial at the Luth. Cem. Rev. Noble Carothers will
officiate. Friends may pay their respects at the residence after 5 pm. Thursday.

died at his home 4 mi. SW of Wallace yesterday (Jan 17) of Bright's disease, following
a long illness. He was b. and raised in the community and had been ill for many months.
He was born Nov 19, 1866 son of Thomas & Phoebe Sowers gooding. He was married to Dora
Summer. Survivors are his wife, 2 sisters, Mrs. Maria Newkirk of Wallace and Mrs. AMary
Alward of Grange Corner and four brothers, Isaac, Noah & Monroe of Wallace and Paul of
Danville, Il. Funeral services will be held at Wolf Creek Friday afternoon 1:00
o'clock in charge of Rev. Cornelius Airhart of Crawfordsville with internment there.

Caroline GOODING, widow of Lew Gooding a life long resident of this community, died at the
home of her brother, Robert Summers, near Silverwood, Saturday morning at 4 o'clock
following a serious illness of one week. Mrs. Gooding had been in declining health for
the past two years. Heart trouble caused her death. Mrs. Gooding was born near Wallace
Oct 15, 1866, daughter of Elijah and Alfie Harrison Summers. She was married 42 years ago
to Lewis Gooding whop receded her in death in 1921. In addition to her brother, Robert at
whose house she succumbed, Mrs. Gooding is survived by another brother, Joseph of Tangier
and half-sister, Mrs. Alex Henaley of Yeddo. Funeral services will be held Monday
afternoon, 1:30 at Wolf Creek Church near Wallace and will be in charge of Rev. Cornelius
Airhart of Crawfordsville. Interment will take place at Wolf Creek.
