I have spent the last several years researching this family and to no
avail.
Samuel b. 1826/27 Indiana
d. 1885 Clay County, Ks. married in about 1840 in
Washington Co., Indiana
Mary Jane Noble/Nowlan/Naughle
b. abt 1827/1828 Pa.
d. Apr. 1906 Clay County, Ks.
Children: Josephine b. abt 1852 d. ?
Lamora Ann b. 1858 d. 1922
William Arley b. 1862 d. ?
Lydia b. 1864 d. 1925
This family migrated from Indiana to Kansas in abt 1858. I can't help
but wonder if there may be more children born to this couple before
the ones I have listed, due to the 12 year span after they married and
the daughter Josephine. I wanting information on who Samuel's
parents were. According to a census I have his father was born in
Va. Also who were Mary J.'s parents. and what was her correct
maiden name. I just returned from a trip from Oregon to Kansas
yesterday and was only able to spend a few hours in Clay Co. The
helpful staff at the court house were unable to find any record of
Samuel's death due to a fire that destroyed what I was looking for.
They had death records from Dec. 1885 forward and Samuel must have
died prior to that. I have contacted their historical society on
several occasions, but have never gotten a response and they were
closed on the day I was there.
Any help on this family would be such a wonderful gift. I have
several census on them and one that has a Samuel living with a James,
but James was only 13 years old so doubt that he is his father. Also
have Mary living with her son, William, after Samuel was deceased.
Thanks in advance.
