veteran railroad conductor and afterwards a barber for many years in northeast Danville is
dead at Jamestown, ND where he went a year ago The end came Tuesday afternoon but
relatives in this city have not been appraised of the nature of the trouble that carried
him away. He was apparently in good health when the last word was received here preceding
the telegram that told of his death. The body left Jamestown Thursday forenoon accompanied
by the members of the family and is expected to reach this city some time Saturday. Mr.
Meharry was 63 years of age having been born Aug 29, 1853 at Covington, Ind and was a
member of the widely known Meharry family of Western Indiana who for years held annual
reunions at Meharry's Grove near the boundary of Montgomery and Fountain counties. He
was married in 1874 to Miss Clara Gebhart of Covington and was father of a large family of
children. The widow who was with him at Jamestown and the following children survive:
John, Clyde, Lester and Clifford Meharry; Mrs. Ada Hagerman and Mrs. IV Lake, all of this
city; Frank Meharry of Miles City,. Mont; Mrs. HL Briggs and Miss Ruth Meharry of
Jamestown, ND. Mrs O Redden and James Meharry brother and sister both residing at
Covington and his aged stepmother of Covington survive. Although nothing definite is
known of the burial plans and will not until the distant relatives are consulted it is
regarded as very probably the body will be taken to Covington for interment.
