Taken from Obituaries of Fountain County, Indiana found July 19, 2007 -- Alvis Eugene
Robbins died at his home in Cates Friday morning Feb 5 1904 at 8 o'clock of bronchial
trouble having been sick only 24 hours. It was noticed by the parents that he was not well
Thursday morning but his condition was not considered serious till evening when he began
to grow steadily worse until the end came. The little one seemed to endure his suffering
with great patience. All medical aid and everything that could be donef or the little
sufferer by his parents and friends was done, but the good father doeth all things well
had called little Alvis to come up higher to dwell with the angels, where there is no
sickness nor sorrow and no more goodbyes. And today we know that Alvis is safe in the
arms of Jesus, only waiting for his papa and mama, his little brother and sister he lvoed
so well. While we mourn with his parents in their great sorrow and know that they can no
more here on earth see the msmiling face or hear his merry laughter that was continually
brightening their home for he was such a sunny child. He was never passed ont he street
unnoticed and to know Alvis was to love him. But behind the darkest clouds there shines a
silver lining and we can say to the mourning ones cheer up. All is well with alvis,
someday we will understand it all some day we will clasp hands with the little one beyond
the river. He was put away amid tears and flowers and his sweet little angel form will
never be before us as we last saw him. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Taylor at the
home on Sunday at 11 o'clock in a very appropriate manner before a host of mourning
freinds and relatives. A very impressive part of the sermon was the singing of two of his
favorite Sudnay School songs. Interment was made at Snoddy's cemetery, conducted by
M. Boord of Covington. Little Alvis was born at Cates, ind March 3 1901 died Feb 5 1904,
aged 2 years 11 months 2 days. He leaves to mourn his loss a father, mother, an elder
brother and infant sister and many relatives and friends.
