Hi gang, and Merry Christmas!
In the 1870 census, the Wert family had two extra people living in the
household. One was John Picket(t), age 13 and one was Martha Bell, age 17, both
born Ohio. I have never been able to figure out the relationship, and it
occurred to me that people on the Fountain Co Board might already know all about
them.
I have a general question: Henry Wert was 65 years old in 1870 and I
wondered if a thirteen year old boy was a help on the farm? Or would he be more
trouble than help? This might help me answer if they took him in as an orphan or
if they sort of hired him for food and board.
There is a tree on Rootsweb, and it looks promising, but I can't get it to
correspond to census images.

Is anybody researching the Picketts, and if so, can you tell me when John
Pickett b,. 1857-or 1858 Ohio died? (He is buried in the Alamo Cemetery) Who
he married or anything?
His brother was supposed to have been william, and his mother and father
were supposed ot have been Samuel and Charlotte (Craig) Pickett
I am interested in him (and Martha Bell) because I believe one or both is a
niece and a nephew of Henry Wert's wife, Isabella, and I have never been able
to figure out her maiden name.
Any help is appreciated,
Suzy Wert
