Crawfordsville Journal Review 13-Sep-1952 p4 -- Wallace - Chauncey R. Thomas, 82, died at
6:15 p.m. Friday at his residence here. He had been ill the past 3 weeks. Mr. Thomas was a
school teacher for 47 years in Parke, Fountain and Montgomery County schools. During his
career he had received a success grade of 98 as a school teacher. Mr. Thomas was born in
Parke County June 30, 1870. He married Emily E. Livengood in Crawfordsville on Sept 14,
1898. Mrs. Thomas preceded him in death on Jan 7, 1952. He was a member of the Wallace
Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Nettie Ratcliff and Mrs. Phrana
Bell, both of Hillsboro; two cousins, Ben Thomas of Grange Corner and Earl Thomas of Gary;
two nieces, Amy Robinson of Waynetown and Othol Carter of Kingman; five nephews, Albert
Underwood of Crawfordsville; Gordon Ratcliff of HIllsboro; Clifford Bell of Veedersburg;
Leslie Bell of HIllsboro and Wilmer Bell of Waynetown. Funeral services will be held at
the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence in Wallace after 3 p.m.
Saturday until noon Sunday.
