Crawfordsville Journal Review 18 April 1931 p 1 - Hillsboro, April 18 -- John Williams,
72, died at his home here Saturday morning at 4:30 as the result of an attack of acute
indigestion he suffered Thursday morning. William, wh olived alone, was heard groaning
early Thursday morning by a neighbor, Robert Clements, who was working in his garden.
Clements went to the Williams home and found the latter suffering intense pain. A
physician was called but his condition gradually grew worse until death occurred. The
deceased was born at Hillsboro Aug 22, 1858 the son of Pleasant and Margaret A. McBroom
Williams. He was never married. When but a youth, Mr. Williams learned the barber trade
and was active in that line of endeavor until a few years ago when he was forced to retire
because of his age. He had spent some time in a number of cities in all parts of the
country but most of his life had been in Hillsboro. Mr. Williams was a life-long member of
the Hillsboro Christian Church. He also was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge at
Crawfordsville. The only immediate survivor is a sister, Mrs. Lena Sandell of this place
who is the last of a family of 10 children. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral services will be held at the Hillsboro Christian Church Monday afternoon at
2:30 o'clock. Burial will take place in the old Hillsboro cemetery.
