Hoagland, 75, of Covington, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at The Waters of
Covington. Born July 2, 1934, in Vermillion County, she was the daughter of the
late Leland H. and Pauline D. Middleton Barnes. As a child she resided
with her family at Spring Creek Farm in Foster. On
June 3, 1956, she married Harry H. Hoagland in Danville, Ill., and he
survives. After their marriage they resided in Danville, and most
recently Covington. After
graduation from Covington High School in 1952, she pursued a career as
an administrative assistant, starting with District 118 and moving to
Danville Junior College. She later worked as a secretary in her
husband's insurance business. In their retirement years, she and her
husband started an antique business. Mrs.
Hoagland was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was
involved in the altar guild. She enjoyed sports, and supporting and
watching her children's athletic activities. Through the years she was
in bowling leagues and euchre clubs. She also enjoyed traveling,
cooking, fishing and golf. Surviving
with her husband are two daughters, Patty L. Hoagland (companion:
Rebecca Murphy) and Connie J. Hoagland, both of Champaign, Ill.; four
sisters, Theda Mae Goodrich of Abilene, Texas, Beatrice Hussman
(husband: Paul) of Danville, Barbara White (husband: Arley) of
Lafayette and Charlotte Crain (husband: Jerry) of Covington.Services Saturday in
Danville.
