-- Walter H. Gibson, 68, of Attica, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Oct.
24, 2009, at his residence, after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 13, 1941, in Rogersville,
Tenn., he was the son of the
late Ralph and Amanda Johnson Gibson and attended Rogersville High
School. He moved to the Attica area in 1966.He married Mary Lynn Lee in Sneedville, Tenn.,
on July 18, 1960. She survives.Mr.
Gibson formerly was employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. and later
worked for Myers Steel Fabricating Co., both in Attica, retiring in
2002.He enjoyed his family, truck and guns and was an avid sports fan; his favorite team
was the Tennessee Vols.Surviving
with his wife are a daughter, Kaye Taylor (husband: John), and a son,
Steve Gibson (wife: Kathy), both of Attica; and four sisters, Kathleen
Hensley (husband: Willie), Verdie Gibson, Betty Price and Dot Klepper
(husband: Jim); and a brother, Gene Gibson, all of Rogersville, Tenn.Also
surviving are his special grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Leonard,
Attica, Tim (Mary) Taylor, Matt (fiancée: Kayla Brier) Taylor, both of
Williamsport; great-grandchildren, Cyrus, of Attica; Christopher,
Katie, Matt and Hannah, all of Williamsport; along with numerous
nephews and nieces, all of Rogersville, Tenn. He was preceded in death
by a granddaughter, Amy Michelle; two brothers, Emmitt and Ralph Gibson
Jr., and a sister, Delores Lee. Walter was known as "Tennessee" by
friends and "Sonny" by family. He leaves behind a lifetime of precious
memories and feelings to all he encountered that will continue in their
hearts. He will be deeply missed.Friends
may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Maus Funeral Home, Attica.
Friends may also call from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Thursday
at the Broome Funeral Home, 513 E. Main St., Rogersville, TN, with
Pastor Tim McClellan officiating. Interment Courtney Cemetery, Hawkins
