-- Lula "Lou" Belle DeZarn Hanthorne, 70, of Attica, died at 4:32 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. Born May 8, 1939, in
Pence, she was the daughter of the late Emery
DeZarn and Maggie P. Burns DeZarn Martin. She was raised in
Williamsport and attended Williamsport High School. She had resided in
Attica since 1958.On Oct. 11, 1958, she married Gerald Dean Hanthorne in Williamsport, and
he survives.Mrs.
Hanthorne formerly worked in the dietary department of Community
Hospital (now St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital.) She had worked as a
home interior decorator and as a crossing guard for Attica Elementary
School for 25 years. She formerly attended Attica Free Methodist Church. She especially
enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.Surviving
are two sons, Rick Hanthorne (wife: Sally) of Williamsport and Jake
Hanthorne (companion: Gina) of Attica; a daughter, Lori Brenner
(husband: Tony) of Greenwood; a sister, Bess Swift of Attica; and a
brother, Millard DeZarn of Mellott. Also surviving
are 5 grandchildren, Corey, Jacob, Dustin, Dylan and Emily; 2
stepgrandchildren, Angel and Alex; a great-grandchild and 2
stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2
sisters. As a crossing guard, she protected and touched every heart of
all her children. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Maus Funeral Home
in Attica. Services 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the funeral home,
the Rev. Jerry Badgley officiating. Interment at Riverside Cemetery,
Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent
