Crawfordsville Journal Review 23-Sep-1976 p 2-- Wallace - Herman Collins, 85 of Wallace
died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday in Covington Manor Nursing Home at Covington. He had been
there for 8 months. He was a blacksmith in Wallace 50 years and was a professional horse
shower for area saddle clubs. Born Aug 2, 1891, south of Hillsboro, a son of James and
Louella Livengood Collins. He was married Aug 6, 1927 to Nora Clark Herrington.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Roy of Roachdale; two brothers, Jim of Waveland and Richard
of Wallace; five sisters, Mrs. Ruby Pence of New Orleans, LA; Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of
Haddonfield, NJ; Mrs. Lorane Verhey of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Mary Ray of W. Point and Mrs.
Josephine Clore of Danville, Ill; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in
Thomas Funeral Home at Waveland (sic - Waynetown) with Rev. Phillip Huey officiating.
Burial will be in Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3
p.m.l Friday.
