Crawfordsville Journal Review Jan 20, 1969 p 8 - HIllsboro - Samuel I. Hankins, 89, a life
resident of Fountain County and father of the late Carl "Cobb" Hankins, former
Montgomery County Clerk died at 10 a.m. Sunday in Clinton County Hospital, Frankfort. He
had been in failing health a year. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayburn Hankins and was
born March 2, 1879 near Veedersburg. He married Alice Zimmerman at Danville, Ill. She
preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Dale of Frankfort; 4 grandchildren 3 great
grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister are deceased. Mr.
Hankins was a teacher 30 yeares in Fountain County retiring in 1930. He had attended
Valparaiso and Indiana state. He was a member of Cooper's Chapel Church. Funeral
services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crumley-William Funeral Home in Hillsboro with burial
in Waynetown Masonic.
