Hi, Cheryl,
I do know that a lot of people from Fountain County moved to Iowa
fairly early on, and of course there was a lot of toing and froing
across the Illinois line. I'll have a look at these names. I don't
remember a Brown but that means nothing!

Are any of these Browns in your line? I am quite sure that the
Bever name
somehow ties into these lines as well as Bever families are often
living
close to my Smith lines in the censuses.
In the 1880 census for Butler township, Vermilion county,
Illinois....there is a Mary Pugh, age 5, living with my gr
grandfather, Abner E. Smith and
his first wife, Mahala Washburn. I don't know who Mary is but she
is no
doubt related somehow. I would love to know how she is related!
Abner E.
Smith was born in or around Fountain county, Indiana in 1840. His
second
wife was Nancy Jane Rutledge. They ended up in Appanoose county,
Iowa.
I think we can connect sooner or later..............Cheryl in rainy
