Crawfordsville Journal Review 24-Jan-1966 p 3 -- Martin G. Switzer, 68, a lifelong
resident of Veedersburg died at 2:55 a.m. Sunday in Mercy Hospital, Laredo, Texas. He and
his wife had traveled to Mexico for the winter. He became ill soon after his arrival and
decided to return to Veedersburg. At Laredo, he became too ill to travel and entered Mercy
Hospital where he died. Mr. Switzer was born in Veedersburg Oct 21, 1898 the son of
William and Evelyn Berry Switzer. On April 11, 1922 he was married to Emma Truman she
survives. He served 4 years in the Navy during WWI. He was a retired pipe fitter.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Martin Switzer, Jr. of Camby; four
daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Robinson of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Peggy Eudy of Monticello; Mrs.
Sonja Barrett of Indianapolis and Mrs. Nitzi Keen of Florida; 16 grandchildren and one
great grandchild. A son, William Switzer preceded him in death. Funeral services were
conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday Jan 26 at the Sever Mortuary Veedersburg. Burial was in the
Fraternal Cemetery at Kingman.
