Crawfordsville Journal Review Nov 23, 1982 p2 - Hillsboro -- Dr. Ross Ellis, 92, of Rt 1,
died at 12:20 p.m. Monday in Covington Manor Health Center at Covington. A retired
veterinarian and farmer, he was employed as a federal meat inspector for Sam Harris
Packing Company. A charter member of the Fountain County Farm Bureau, he was also active
in the former Ingersoll Chapel Church. Dr. Ellis was a graduate of Hillsboro HS and
Indiana Veterinary College at Indianapolis. He was born June 26, 1890, a son of
Christopher and Ella Hughes Ellis, southeast of HIllsboro. He married Zelma Newkirk July
14, 1913. She preeded him in death July 1, 1981. Survivors include a son, Ernest of rural
Hillsboro; a daughter, Mrs. George (Eileen) Simmons of Lake Holiday; five grandchildren
and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vern and sister, Mrs.
Gladys King. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home at
Waynetown with Rev. Jack Swank officiaitng. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemtery. Friends
may call after 6 p.m. today.
