CrawfordsvilleJournal March 6, 1928 p 1 -- HIllsboro, March 6 - Robert E. Ellis, age 83,
veteran of the Civil War, passed away on Monday night at his home here after several weeks
illness with cancer. Mr. Ellis was on eof six children and was born in Bracken County, Ky
Dec 16, 1844. He was the son of Robert T. and Lucinda Cotty Ellis and came to this
community with his parents when he was 9 years old. On oct 10, 1867, he wa sunited in
marriage to Miss Amanda C. Monroe of HIllsboro. On October 9, 1927, Mr. andMrs. Ellis
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Ellis and his bride went to housekeeping
on a farm near HIllsboro and two years later moved to Illinois where they resided for
seven years. In 1876, they retrutned to Fountain County and located on a farm where they
have resided for the past 51 years. Until his recent illness Mr. Ellis had not needed the
care of a physician during his entire life. He has been a member of the Prarie Chapel
Christian Church for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, one grandson, Harlie Ellis;
one great grandson, Dwain Ellis; one brother, John R. Ellis of HIllsboro and one sister
Mrs. Laura Work of Lafayette. Funeral services will be held from the home at 1:30 on
Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Carrie Beaver of Advance pastor of the Prarie Chapel church
in charge. Interment will take place in the masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
