Mrs.
Nola Emily DeWeese Kirk, 88, 508 Wood St., Brookston, died at 8:43 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 6, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been hospitalized since
July 30 and in failing health the past several years. She was born March 22,
1898, in Salem, Ind. She had lived in
the Brookston area the past 45 years. She was a member of Brookston United
Methodist Church and Brookston Rebekah Lodge 376. She was married Nov. 11,
1916, in Jeffersonville, to Edgar R. Kirk. He died Nov. 2, 1959. Surviving are a son,
William Roy Kirk,
Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Snedecker, Oxford, and Mrs. William F. (Betty
Jean) Taylor, Lafayette; one brother, Arthur DeWeese, Johnstown, Pa.; four
sisters, Mrs. Cora Horton, Veedersburg; Mrs. Lula Crane and Mrs. Elnora Zink,
both of Salem, and Mrs. Ruby Weldon, Milwaukee, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and
seven great-great-grandchildren. Six brothers and two sisters preceded her in
death. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Hartzler
Funeral Home Chapel, Brookston, with the Rev. Wes Brookshire officiating.
Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston. Rebekah memorial service was held
