I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the CROOKS Family of
Maryland. The first is a photograph of Helen CROOKS which was taken at the
J. H. SCHAEFER Studio in Baltimore, MD. The photograph appears to have been
taken in the early 1900s and indicates that Helen is just 5 years old at the
time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as Jessie CROOKS and
was taken at the same studio indicating that she is 7 years old at the
time. Both photographs also note that they are "Nimrod's Sisters" and also
include the name "Jessie BONER" on the back of each photograph, as is that
is who the photographs were given to at some point in time.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information
regarding this family:
Jessie M. CROOKS was b. abt 1901 in Maryland to Mother Annie B. CROOKS (b.
abt 1861 in Maryland). She had one sister, Helen J. CROOKS b. 1903. Jessie
married Cloyd E. BONER (b. 23 Jul 1897 in Covington, IN).
Helen J. CROOKS b. 7 Jan 1903 in Maryland married Thurman R. HARE (b. 3 Jan
1903 in Baltimore, MD - d. 24 Dec 1950 in Baltimore, MD) on 16 Jul 1942.
Helen died in Atlanta, GA on 11 Feb 1993.

be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or
you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
