Crawfordsville Journal Review, 2-May-1964, 6: 3- Former Hillsboro Resident is Dead-
HILLSBORO- John A. Brown, 67, of South Bend, a native and former resident of Hillsboro,
died at 9 a.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital at South Bend after suffering a heart attack a
short time earlier at his home. He was born Feb. 6, 1897 to Hal and Myrtle Holmes Brown,
was reared in this community and wed to Nell Gott of Mellott in 1917. They lived in South
Bend the last 18 years. Mr. Brown was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and the
Plasterers and Cement Masons Union at South Bend. He retired three years ago. For the last
three years he served as business agent for the union. Survivors include the wife; a son,
Cecil of the U. S. Air Force, stationed in Turkey; three brothers, Newt of Hillsboro,
Thomas of Veedersburg and Paul of Mulberry; two sisters, Mrs. Fleeta Riebe and Mrs. Helen
Bennett of Walkerton, and two grandchildren. The body is at the Crumley Funeral
Home here. Arrangements are incomplete.
