HILLSBORO- Mrs. Magdaline Nine, 72-year-old prominent resident of this community, died
about 8 p.m. Thursday at her home after a long illness. She was born June 7, 1888, in
Fountain County, a daughter of Thomas and Lydia Summers Day. She married William Nine Feb.
18, 1914. Mr. and Mrs. Nine lived in this community all their married life and operated
the Nine Hotel here the past 20 years. Mrs. Nine was a member of the Hillsboro Christian
Church, Centennial Cemetery League and was a Past Worthy Matron of Hillsboro OES. She
attended Madam Blaker College in Indianapolis and Terre Haute State Normal College and
taught school at Steam Corner. Survivors include her husband; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie
Day of Veedersburg, Mrs. Ruby Rich and Mrs. Mary Andrews, both of Yeddo and Mrs. Maxine
Bryant of Williamsport and a brother, Harry Day of Phoenix. She was preceded in death by
her
parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Sunday at Crumley Funeral Home with Rev. Bennett Fulp of Crawfordsville in charge. Burial
will be in Centennial Cemetery near Yeddo. Friends may call at the funeral home Suatrday
afternoon and evening.
