Tinsley, 65, prominent Hillsboro businessman who, along with his wife, has operated a
department store in Hillsboro for the past 12 years, died Tuesday evening of a hear
attack at his home. Mr. Tinsley was born Jan. 13, 1894, the son of James W. and Matilda
Simpson Tinsley. He married Grace Williams of Hillsboro July 9, 1917. Active in the
community, he was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and a teacher of the Gleaners
Sunday School Class. During World War I he severed overseas with the rank of lieutenant
and organized Company C of the National Guard of Hillsboro and bore the rank of captain
for eight years in the Guard. He is also a past commander of Hillsboro Memorial Post of
the American Legion and a past master of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. Surviving him,
beside his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Harold Duke and Mrs. Marion B. Cooper; a son,
Robert; a
half-sister, Mrs. Maud Fine, and six grandchildren, all of Crawfordsville. Funeral
services will be at the Hillsboro Christian Church at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon with the
pastor, Rev. Homer Cole, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may
call at the Crumley Funeral Home Thursday afternoon and evening.
